COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS TO EASE AT SCHOOLS

The Honourable Natasha Maclaren-Jones MLC, Government Whip in the Legislative Council and Parliamentary Secretary for Health has welcomed the easing of restrictions at NSW schools to allow parents to enter school grounds, dancing activities to proceed and singing groups to recommence in a COVID safe way.

NSW Government future proofs agriculture for decades to come

The Honourable Natasha Maclaren-Jones MLC, Government Whip in the Legislative Council and Parliamentary Secretary for Health has welcomed the NSW Government’s future focus on agriculture that will see the end of an 18-year moratorium on the use of Genetically Modified (GM) crops, reaping significant benefits to NSW primary industries over the next decade.

“The potential agronomic and health benefits of future GM crops include everything from drought and disease resistance, more efficient uptake of soil nutrients, increased yield and better weed control,” Mrs Maclaren-Jones said.

And the Winner is: NSW Premier's Reading Challenge opening for 2021

Students from Kindergarten to Year 9 in NSW are encouraged to jump into reading with the NSW Premier's Reading Challenge now open for 2021. 

The challenge encourages students from all education sectors to read for leisure and pleasure by asking them to read between 20 and 30 books, depending on their challenge level, from a reading list of quality literature. 

Last year saw a 5 per cent increase in student participation in 2020 during the pandemic, with almost nine million books read.

NSW WELCOMES NEW POLICE RECRUITS

The Honourable Natasha Maclaren-Jones MLC, Government Whip in the Legislative Council and Parliamentary Secretary for Health has welcomed 192 new NSW Police Force after the first graduation ceremony of 2021.

Minister for Police and Emergency Services David Elliott joined NSW Police Commissioner Mick Fuller APM at an attestation ceremony at the NSW Police Academy in Goulburn.

Mr Elliott congratulated the incoming officers and welcomed the return to a full ceremony after last year’s events were disrupted by COVID-19 restrictions.
