FOSTERING SAFETY AND STABILITY FOR CHILDREN

To mark the start of Foster and Kinship Care Week, people are being encouraged to shine a light on the life-changing contribution carers make by nominating them for a Carer Recognition Award.

Cabinet Secretary, the Hon. Natasha Maclaren-Jones MLC said foster carers open their hearts and homes to vulnerable children, providing vital stability, support and care.

“This week is an opportunity to celebrate foster and kinship carers and to recognise the enormous contribution they make to the community,” Mrs Maclaren-Jones said.

NSW GETS MORE FREE TRAINING OPTIONS DURING LOCKDOWN

The NSW Government has announced an additional 3000 training places for people across NSW to skill up at home during lockdown.

An extra 60 short courses are now on offer to study for free including business skills, mental health, marketing, finance and IT skillsets.

Cabinet Secretary, the Hon. Natasha Maclaren-Jones MLC said there has never been a more crucial time to upskill or reskill through the pandemic.

“The NSW Government is here to support the people of NSW every step of the way,” Mrs Maclaren-Jones said.

FREE PET REGISTRATION FOR RESCUE ANIMALS

Free lifetime pet registration for people who adopt a rescue pet from council pounds and animal shelters has been introduced by the NSW Government to ensure more dogs and cats find a forever home.

Cabinet Secretary, the Hon Natasha Maclaren-Jones said that new initiative reinforces the NSW Government’s commitment to encourage prospective pet owners to ‘adopt not shop’ for a dog or cat.

FREE PRESCHOOL WIN FOR SERVICES AND PARENTS

Free preschool is now a staple for NSW families with funding confirmed in the 2021/22 NSW Budget for community and mobile preschools.

The new Start Strong Free Preschool program will replace the current COVID-19 Free Preschool Funding program that has been supporting families since the beginning of the pandemic.

Cabinet Secretary, the Hon. Natasha Maclaren-Jones MLC said the NSW Liberals & Nationals Government has continued to support families and children over the past two years.
