MENTAL HEALTH MONTH

Member of the Legislative Council Natasha Maclaren-Jones has marked the start of Mental Health Month by encouraging everyone to take some time think about their mental health, and seek help if needed.

The theme for Mental Health Month this year, ‘Value Your Mind’, aims to encourage people to prioritise their own mental health and wellbeing just as much as they would to maintain their physical and social health.

MOTORISTS URGED TO REMAIN VIGILANT ON THE ROAD THIS LONG WEEKEND

Member of the Legislative Council Natasha Maclaren-Jones is urging motorists to remain vigilant on the roads this October Long Weekend, as Operation Slow Down kicks into gear.

Since the start of the year, 259 people have died on NSW roads – 26 more deaths than this time last year.

Mrs Maclaren-Jones said accidents can happen in a second and urged all motorists to take extra precautions on the region’s roads.

“With major sporting events, the school holidays and the long weekend, there will be a lot of activity on the road this weekend,” Mrs Maclaren-Jones said.

HONOURING THOSE WHO MADE THE ULTIMATE SACRIFICE

Member of the Legislative Council Natasha Maclaren-Jones has encouraged members of the public to show their appreciation for the NSW Police Force by joining Remembrance Day services to honour police who have lost their lives in the line of duty.

“Today is the most significant day on the policing calendar where we pay tribute to the officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice to serve their communities,” Mrs Maclaren-Jones said.

NSW TO BENEFIT FROM $10 MILLION BOOST FOR SCHOOL LEAVERS AND TRAINEES

Member of the Legislative Council Natasha Maclaren-Jones today welcomed a $10 million investment from the NSW Government to help school leavers start their career through free pre-traineeship and pre-apprenticeship courses.

“The NSW Government is committed to helping young people get the training to start their careers,” Mrs Maclaren-Jones said.

“Young people across NSW will benefit from a $10 million program to give school leavers access to a fee-free pre-traineeship and pre-apprenticeship course.
