HISTORIC MOU SIGNED FOR MAJOR NEW RESEARCH PROGRAM FOR CANNABIS-BASED MEDICINES FOR PAEDIATRIC EPILEPSY

Member of the Legislative Council Natasha Maclaren-Jones today welcomed the NSW Government’s announcement that a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) has been signed with GW Pharmaceuticals (GW) to progress a major new research program for cannabis-based medicines in children with severe, drug resistant paediatric epilepsy.

Mrs Maclaren-Jones said many children are suffering and this announcement provides hope for families.

SHARK MANAGEMENT STRATEGY TO HELP SAFEGUARD NSW BEACHES

Member of the Legislative Council Natasha Maclaren-Jones said a new $16 million NSW shark strategy will help to safeguard NSW beaches.

“The NSW Government is investing $16 million into ensuring our beaches are safe for everyone in the community to enjoy,” Mrs Maclaren-Jones said.

“In NSW, our pristine beaches and waterways are an integral part of our community and lifestyle, a place of recreation and enjoyment.

“It is important that we maintain access to them and ensure their safety for our use, as well as for our many visitors who come to this beautiful area.”

Member of the Legislative Council Natasha Maclaren-Jones is calling on NSW to thank paramedics for their service.

First held in 2008, Thank a Paramedic Day is a publicly celebrated awareness day to recognise the work of NSW Ambulance paramedics.

“Paramedics are role models within our community, who we look upon with the highest admiration.

“They are there for us 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, every day of the year.

“Days like today recognise the importance of frontline emergency care and the trauma faced so regularly by our first responders.

Member of the Legislative Council Natasha Maclaren-Jones is today encouraging residents to be more aware of their rights as consumers ahead of the commencement of the 15^th annual Fair Trading Week.

2015 Fair Trading Week, which runs from 2-6 November across NSW, aims to raise awareness about the role that Fair Trading plays in the marketplace on behalf of both consumers and traders across local communities.
