NSW CELEBRATES INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PEOPLE WITH DISABILITY

Member of the Legislative Council Natasha Maclaren-Jones today encouraged communities across NSW to think and act inclusively to mark International Day of People with Disability.

“Today is International Day of People with Disability and I encourage everyone to think about the part they can play in building an accessible and inclusive community where everyone is equally supported to pursue their goals,” Mrs Maclaren-Jones said.

“Celebrating International Day of People with Disability draws attention to what we can do to make NSW a better place for people with disability.

BETTER RENTAL BOND SERVICE FOR AGENTS AND TENANTS ACROSS NSW

Member of the Legislative Council Natasha Maclaren-Jones today announced greater protection for tenants through an innovative new online rental bond management service launched by NSW Fair Trading.

The new system, called Rental Bonds Online, will save agents and private landlords time managing bonds and help tenants securely lodge their bond directly with NSW Fair Trading.

NEW ADVO’S TO HELP REDUCE DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

For the first time in NSW, Apprehended Domestic Violence Orders (ADVOs) will be written in plain English so defendants have no excuses for not understanding the orders.

Member of the Legislative Council Natasha Maclaren-Jones today announced the introduction of plain English ADVOs as part of the NSW Government’s commitment to end violence against women. 

“There is never any excuse for breaching an ADVO, but we are now making them crystal clear so there is no doubt,” Mrs Maclaren-Jones said.

NSW URGED TO CHECK POOL FENCES ON SUMMER SAFETY SUNDAY

Member of the Legislative Council Natasha Maclaren-Jones has urged local homeowners to check their backyard pool and spa for potential safety hazards in the lead up to summer..

Drowning is a leading cause of accidental death in young children in NSW and the NSW Government is committed to reducing the number of tragic incidents in backyard pools.

“In the past 13 years, 83 young children have drowned in NSW swimming pools. This is a distressing figure, which highlights the importance of pool safety,” said Mrs Maclaren-Jones.
