HELP SHAPE DOMESTIC AND FAMILY VIOLENCE SUPPORT

Member of the Legislative Council Natasha Maclaren-Jones has called on the local community to help shape domestic and family violence (DFV) reform in NSW to better target perpetrators and improve support for victims.

Mrs Maclaren-Jones said the NSW Government is developing a DFV Blueprint to enhance our response to DFV and public feedback is vital to how we respond.

MAJOR DISTRICT COURT FUNDING BOOST

Member of the Legislative Council Natasha Maclaren-Jones has today welcomed the NSW Government’s announcement of a comprehensive $20 million package to slash the NSW District Court backlog by more than 600 criminal trials over the next two years. 

Mrs Maclaren-Jones said this is great news for communities across NSW that will benefit from better access to fast and fair justice.

“Delays are disproportionately represented in regional communities and affect confidence in the administration of justice,” Mrs Maclaren-Jones said.

MORE PLACES TO TOP UP YOUR OPAL

NSW residents now have even more options for getting and topping up an Opal card with more Opal retailers across NSW than ever before, Member of the Legislative Council Natasha Maclaren-Jones said today.

“There are just four weeks to go until most types of older style paper travel tickets are phased out on 1 January so I’m reminding people that they need to move to Opal,” Mrs Maclaren-Jones said.

“To help people get a card, the NSW Government has announced extra Opal retail outlets at 50 Woolworths stores and 19 additional Service NSW centres.”

YOUNG ARTISTS INVITED TO APPLY FOR $10,000 NSW GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIPS

Young artists in NSW are being encouraged to apply for nine $10,000 scholarships under a major new NSW Government scheme to develop emerging artistic talent, Member of the Legislative Council Natasha Maclaren-Jones announced today.

Mrs Maclaren-Jones said she would love local talent to benefit from the scholarship program, which includes 100 scholarship grants available valued at $10,000 each for regional artists over the next four years.
