Convoy of motorhomes for flood affected communities

The first of a 120-strong convoy of motorhomes will leave Sydney this morning bound for Northern NSW to provide medium term accommodation in flood-affected communities.

Minister for Families and Communities Natasha Maclaren-Jones said the NSW Government is providing a range of accommodation for people affected by the floods to help ensure no one is left homeless.

Emergency help for inner city rough sleepers

The NSW Government is working with partner agencies to assist inner city people sleeping rough into safe accommodation during this period of extreme weather.

The emergency response in the inner city comes on top of increased accommodation assistance for people in flood impacted regions across the state.

Minister for Families and Communities Natasha Maclaren-Jones said homelessness outreach patrols have increased with the implementation of the Inner City Response Protocol for People Sleeping Rough.

Vaccination boost for people with disability

A NSW Government initiative will support thousands of people with disability to get vaccinated to limit their risk of infection with COVID-19. 

Minister for Disability Services, Natasha Maclaren-Jones said COVID-19 vaccinations and boosters were vital in protecting people with disability.

“The latest data from the Federal Government shows that more than 88 per cent of National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) participants aged 16 and older in NSW have had at least two vaccine doses,” Mrs Maclaren-Jones said.

Supporting people impacted by flood disaster

The Department of Communities and Justice alongside partner agencies has registered more than 1,300 people impacted by the major floods that have engulfed parts of the Lismore region.

Minister for Families, Communities and Disability Services Natasha Maclaren-Jones said the NSW Government was committed to ensuring people affected by the flood disaster would be supported.

“We are doing everything we can to help those who are stranded and isolated due to this devastating event,” Mrs Maclaren-Jones said.
