NSW COMMUNITIES URGED TO MOBILISE FOR GRAFFITI REMOVAL DAY 2019

The Honourable Natasha Maclaren-Jones MLC, Government Whip in the Legislative Council and Parliamentary Secretary for Health has urged local residents and community groups to roll up their sleeves and participate in Graffiti Removal Day 2019.

Mrs Maclaren-Jones said locals are being urged to brush up on their creative skills for this year’s main event on 27 October.

FUNDING BOOST ON OFFER FOR LOCAL SPORTS CLUBS

A boost to grassroots sports development or upgrades to local sporting facilities across the state are just some of the projects eligible for funding, in the latest round of the NSW Government’s Local Sport Grant Program.

Mrs Maclaren-Jones said this is a great chance to share in $4.65 million in grants which will bring a huge benefit to the local community.

“There are so many clubs in NSW that can take advantage of this opportunity to increase participation in sport and active recreation,” Mrs Maclaren-Jones said.

NSW DRIVERS REMINDED TO SLOW DOWN AS POLICE BLITZ BEGINS FOR LONG WEEKEND

NSW drivers are being reminded to travel safely this long weekend as the NSW Police officially launch Operation Slow Down.

The annual road safety enforcement operation starts at 12.01am on Friday 4 October 2019 and concludes at 11.59pm on Monday 7 October 2019.

Double demerits will be in force throughout the period for speeding, seatbelt, mobile phone and motorcycle helmet offences.

FLAGS RAISED TO KICK OFF BEACH PATROL SEASON

More than 21,000 volunteer surf lifesavers will be out in force to protect swimmers and beachgoers across the State with the patrol season starting this weekend.

Minister for Police and Emergency Services David Elliott raised an iconic red and yellow Surf Life Saving NSW flag and stuck it into the sand at Manly Beach to launch the season and remind swimmers to remain between the markers.

The volunteers come from 129 surf clubs in NSW who patrol beaches from tomorrow to April 2020.
