WOMEN ENCOURAGED TO STAND FOR THEIR COMMUNITY

The Hon Natasha Maclaren-Jones MLC, Government Whip in the Legislative Council and Parliamentary Secretary for Health today encouraged local women to put their hand up to run for Local Council at the September 2021 council elections.

Mrs Maclaren-Jones said local council service offers a rewarding career working with residents and businesses to improve the lifestyle and amenity of the community.

“The NSW Government is committed to increasing female representation on councils around the State,” Mrs Maclaren-Jones said.

CUTTING RED TAPE AND INCREASED PROTECTIONS FOR NSW TRADIES

Tradies across NSW will now have greater protections to ensure they are paid on time and in full following the introduction of new laws by the NSW Liberals.

GET READY FOR BUSH FIRE SEASON

The NSW Rural Fire Service (NSW RFS) is calling for all residents to join their local volunteers for Get Ready Weekend to prepare for the bush fire season.

This weekend, volunteer firefighters will be holding more than 480 innovative COVID-safe events and activities across the state, in person and online.

Police and Emergency Services Minister David Elliott said the threat of bush fire is as real as ever, particularly the risk of grass fires in the State’s west.

The Hon Natasha Maclaren-Jones MLC, Government Whip in the Legislative Council and Parliamentary Secretary for Health has called on the community to nominate inspiring local women for the 2021 NSW Women of the Year Awards.

The awards, which were launched by Minister for Women Bronnie Taylor on 13 August 2020, also include two new categories, One to Watch and NSW Woman of Excellence, which respectively recognise young rising stars and women who are exceptional role models.

Mrs Maclaren-Jones said the awards celebrate women from all walks of life.
