Quality childcare information is now readily available at parents’ and caregivers’ fingertips with the launch of the NSW Government’s Early Childhood Education (ECE) Finder.

The Honourable Natasha Maclaren-Jones MLC said the new website will provide key information to help young families make informed decisions and understand what to look for when choosing a care provider for their child.

“It is so important to provide our young families with reliable and confident sources of information that families can trust,” Mrs Maclaren-Jones said.

“I want families to know as much about their child care as possible, it’s a big decision, and I am pleased the government is assisting our families.”

Minister for Education and Early Childhood Education Sarah Mitchell is excited for the new ECE Finder, which will provide all NSW families with access to quality information on early childhood services.

“Research shows that participation in quality early childhood education has life-long benefits for children and improves outcomes, not just in education but in health and long-term employment as well,” Ms Mitchell said.

“To help families better understand what the services do, we’ve made the new graphic easier to read. The tool uses the graphic to give at-a-glance information about a service’s quality rating, and gives families the confidence to engage in discussions about quality.”

NSW has the largest number of education and care services regulated under the National Quality Framework of any state or territory. Since January 2019, over 99 per cent of services have been visited and assessed.

Over the last two years, the Department has ensured that all services have been visited, regardless of their rating.

The ECE Finder includes long day care services, family day-care and NSW funded community preschools.
